Sunday Update

This is the mountain to the north east of our position maybe 5 miles away. There are some really big mountains way off, but they are mostly blocked by clouds or dust. The weather hear so far is fine, maybe low 80s with still a strong wind blowing every day.

The District center has three dogs. This new puppy showed up just last week. I think Georgian Soldiers found it on a patrol and brought it back. The Afghan boys all ran from the dog. Culturally dogs are not well liked as they are thought to be dirty and if they lick your cloths you have to change before you go to prayer because you will be unclean.

Some local kids who wiggled onto the district center. They aren't suppose to be there but they get pretty persistent. One or two of them had some pretty good english going. We gave them some chocolate muffins and some water. We have to be careful with the kids for a number of reasons ranging from the report that a kid was used as a suicide bomber this week, they rush the gates if you give out stuff and they throw a lot of rocks if you don't give them stuff or just because they are kids and it is fun to throw rocks at trucks. Its not like they have a soccer practice to go to, Xbox to play or Spongebob to watch.

A little Lamb Kabab and Naan, there was some vegetables but really meat on a stick and a bread plate is all you need. The guys out in town eat a lot of MREs so they sometimes buy some food from a local guy who brings it in.
