Devyn and Tristan's basketball season is over. Both were not great seasons for different reasons. I coached Devyn's basketball team and we ended up having a touch season. I got into it with one of the parents during the a game to keep quiet about the refs. They ended up pulling their kid early from the game and never came back. We had one kid break his arm in the 3rd to last game. One kid started playing baseball and could not make the last 4 games. That brought us down to 5 and the last game one kid was out of town so we had to forfeit. Devyn had a great attitude through the season and worked hard. I think even in a winless season all had a good time and learned a couple of things. This might be the last season of basketball for Devyn as he gets ready for high school and puts rec leagues behind him. We are encouraging him to participate in middle school track afterschool which lets all interested participate. We are just trying to find a school related passion for him. Some afterschool activity that he gets excited about. We will see.
Tristan was not very motivated for basketball this year. He was draggin' ass most of the games doing the bare minimum. After a couple of discussions with us he showed great improvement the last two games and really made an impact. Tristan needed some more instruction/coaching this year that just doesn't happen enough in rec basketball. Once the season starts there is a lot telling but no showing and practice. So Tristan might also take a break from Rec basketball for another medium to learn the game. Tristan has showed a little interest in tennis. I think with his independent nature it might be good for him. He starts a fundamental program in April.
Ayden has just started basketball with a 6-7 year old league through the city of Fredericksburg. He is a big boy in both height and weight, but really gives it all at practices and the games. Never walks or gets frustrated, but keeps hustling. It is cute to watch. They have only had one game but we will see how the season progress. He is also asking for some baseball this spring which will be the first baseball season for the boys other than a t-ball season for Devyn when we were in North Carolina.
