Short Week

The Marine Corps has something called a 96er. On a three day weekend Marines are given a weekend that starts on noon on Friday and goes to noon on Tues (if holiday is on a Monday). This mostly is for safety so Marines don't leave on a Friday evenin' to drive to hometown USA 8 hours away after a full day of work. So coming to work at noon on Tues of the week after a 96er is quite nice.

Wendy had a big basketball clinic that she and her organization put on that attracted 45 girls on Saturday. So that took up most of our day. Sunday we took in a movie and some Ikea shopping for our office we are finishing. Wendy just put a slate tile floor down and a new paint job. Now we are ready to move in the furniture. There were desks in there, but they were acquired from neighbors as they moved.

Spent some time at the tennis court with Tristan and the boys on Monday. Tristan had showed some interest in tennis and we thought that might be a good sport for him and his personality. We hit some balls for a while with the boys and all seemed to enjoy it. Tristan has asked to go back today. So that is nice to see him taking an interest.

Ayden has expressed interest in baseball that I have been trying to put off. I am not a big fan of the sport. I don't really like to watch it and after having a concussions or two from getting hit in the head in little league I have not paid in much attention. I was talking with a neighbor, who has older boys playing baseball, about Ayden's interest in baseball. The next day the neighbor showed up with old equipment and now Ayden is out front throwing the ball. Looks like we have a few seasons of baseball on the horizons.
