In Full Swing

So we are into week two and settling into the full swing of things.
We have completed RIP/TOA, Relief in Place/Transfer of Authority.
Although this usually applies to more larger units taking over for one
another. With us just taking over somone's desk it is not so much a
transfer of authority as an addition to a e-mail distrobution list and
invitation to meetings. But the folks we replaced are out of here
tomorrow and we have full control. My boss, a Royal Navy Captain is
due back tomorrow after being away for two weeks. So I got thrown
right into the hot seat for the big meetings.

Living arrangements. So for us here at Leatherneck we live in modular
boxes that I posted the inside a while back. One of the pictures
below is the "block" we live on. Most of these have two people living
in them and there are probably three hallways like this in our block
and then maybe 9 blocks in a living area. The boxes are pretty quiet
and there are protective shades over the windows that can make the
room pitch black so good sleeping conditions. The bathrooms are about
20 yards away for a portajon and 50 yards for a regular toilet and
shower. So in the evening it is a good idea to monitor your fluid
intake so you don't have to make that hike in the middle of the night.
There is the option of using a bottle in your room, may or may not
have done that once or twice or zero.

The other picture is the building our guys in Sangin are living in.
The are basically stables that have been modified with Heat/A/C units
for couple guys to live in. Probably better than the tents with 10-20
guys in it.
