Surprise.

We put on a surprise birthday party for Wendy’s Mom, Grandmar, last Friday. She was completely taken off guard. The pictures from the party should fill in the gaps about the party and I hope to have up this week.

Grandmar was planning on being at our house last weekend after she had a speaking engagement with a Christian women’s group near by. Papap and Devyn drove down with her and they arrived Thursday afternoon. Grandmar’s friends from Atlanta, Beth and Leah, flew up on Friday. Aunt Eddie and Cousin Chris came on Friday and brought Great Grandmar.

Papa HoJo and Grammi were coming down for the party, along with bringing Tristan and Ayden home from two weeks on the Cape. They were suppose to travel in on Thursday night on a 5pm flight and stay at a neighbors house until Friday. Their flight got delayed, delayed, delayed again because of weather in the DC area and then canceled. They were not going to be rescheduled until a time that made it impossible for them to make the surprise. So they rented a car and started driving at 11pm on Thursday night. The drove to about 1am and crashed at a hotel in West Haven, CT not even bringing bags into the hotel. After 5 hours of sleep they got back on the road. They made it through NYC traffic with little problems, traveled through a down pour and had the navigation system crap out. The made it to Baltimore Airport at about 1pm and turned in the car. They then boarded a metro type of train to Washington’s Union Station where they caught a 3:30pm commuter train to Fredericksburg that arrived at 5pm. We had to delay Grandmar’s return to the house until 5:30pm to get Papa HoJo, Grammi and the boys back. They took a quick shower and were putting on socks in the living room as Grandmar and Wendy returned from a day of being out and about. It was quite the Trains, Planes and Automobile adventure.
